Denis was born in Edmonton Alberta and has been pursuing his passion for photography professionally for more than 30 years. After 6 years in the newspaper industry in Alberta, Denis relocated to Ottawa, where he immediately began a 5 year period as official photographer at the Department of External Affairs, now Global Affairs Canada.
During the ensuing years he has acted as chief photographer, National Capital Commission, Official Photographer, Senate of Canada, and Official Photographer, Canadian Heritage. Between 2002 and 2017, Denis has acted as official photographer on nine Royal Tours, including three wither Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. For his dedicated service to the Royal Family, Denis was awarded the Queen’s Golden Anniversary Medal in 2002, and the Queen’s Diamond Anniversary Medal in 2012.
Since launching Denis Drever Photography in 1992, Denis has provided photography services in public relations, government relations, conferences, VIP visits, portraits and special events to an extensive list of blue chip companies and government departments, in Ottawa, and across the country.
Denis maintains his connection with Alberta with a family cottage on Wabamun Lake, and pursues his other passion, sailing, on his 28ft sailboat on the Ottawa River.
